Ready for Lovebox Weekender!

I can’t wait. So many great artists wrapped in the best festival atmosphere I have experienced so far. This will be my third consecutive year in Victoria Park, and this year I am bringing more than a dozen friends over from Oslo to share in the hedonistic indulgence.

For those of you who still haven’t made your mind up, or those of you that need to get into the groove, I have made a Spotify playlist with most of the artists playing over the weekend. It is going to be difficult to listen to everything, but I’ll do my best.

There are still a few tickets left, so get your act together!

Lovebox Weekender just weeks away

Butterflies. Lovebox Weekender is only weeks away and I am looking forward to another great weekend in Victoria Park.

Great headliners and a bunch of up and coming artists worth checking out. Already confirmed are Groove Armada (obviously), N.E.R.D, Datarock, Dj Sneak, Duran Duran, Doves, Friendly Fires, Simian Mobile Disco, Gary Numan, Jazzie B, Johnny D, Ladyhawke, Severino, The RGBs, VV Brown, and the Twelves. Massive and eclectic lineup – and it is still not complete.

Latest additions are amongst others X-Press 2, Diplo (both doing a dj-set in the Rizla van!), Idjut Boys, Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.

As always, the VIP area is impressive with champagne, cocktail bars, a la carte restaurant and more to it. However, my problem with the VIP area is justifying missing out on all the great stuff happening on the main stage, the stockade and other areas. Norman Jay and Joey Negro are the first djs comfirmed to the VIP area – and there will no doubt be others. A luxury problem if there ever was one.

There are still tickets left (only £75 for a weekend pass / £149 for a VIP weekend pass) – Click here to get yours!

Loveboox Weekender 2009

I know it is still about 8 months to go, but a limited number of earlybird tickets are now available for the Lovebox Weekender festival 2009. It all goes off 19th and 20th of July in Victoria Park. The festival was just voted “Best Medium Sized Festival” at the UK Festival Awards 2008.

The line-up for the event is not assembled yet (still 8 months to go), but based on its proud history I promise you that the Groove Armada guys will assemble a quality set of djs and artists. The Guardian previously described the festival “not just one of the most authentic festivals of the Summer, but an annual love letter to the capital”. Are you joining me under the sun in London this summer?

Øya Festival in Oslo

Øya is coming up later this week. The four-day festival is held at the Medieval Park (Middelalderparken) in Oslo and its main focus is around rock and indie. As usual it is all sold out. My favourites this year are José Gonzales, Lykke Li, Lindstrøm, Dengu Fever, Lightspeed Champion, Sigur RósN.E.R.D, and a live performance from my friend Diskjokke.

The clubs in Oslo is also putting on some good nights, with Booka Shade, the PresentsMetronomy, LA Riots, Pilooski, the Whitest Boy Alive, Andrew Weatherall, David E. Sugar, Jaywalkers, and Claude von Stroke some of the names worth checking out.

Full lineup can be found here: Øyafestivalen

Lovebox memories

I was attending the Lovebox Weekender in London’s Victoria Park a few weeks ago. The people behind the event is Tom Findlay and Andy Cato from Groove Armada, and I wanted to share some videos and pictures from the festival I have found online. Flaming Lips and the crowd singing “Yoshimi battles the pink robots” still gives me the shivers – what a performance.

Lovebox Weekender

No updates this weekend as I am in London for the Lovebox Weekender festival in Victoria Park. Great line-up this year as well with artists like Groove Armada, Maurice Fulton, Pnau, Kraak & Smaak, Ladyhawke, The Flaming Lips, Goldfrapp, Greg Wilson, Leon Jean Marie, Alphabeat, The Human League, Dj Medhi and many more. With the slogan “Putting the heart and soul back into festivals” the Groove Armada guys could teach other festivals a thing or two.

Hope to see you there!
